Only ifrit story was best , rest book was like super good in the beginning and then in the end it was below average … when Laura comes back to like it was like 100/100 and then after 50 pages it’s too boring

For me, it was a great experience to see you grow up and grow up with you in a way. You are a very inspiring person to me, I value your bookish thoughts but also other things you share in your videos. Congrats on ten years! I completely agree on the lack of angst in romances lately. I remember reading We Hunt the Flame and just being absolutely on edge with those two that entire book. Idk if it's the popularity of romantasy that we don't get the angsty romance subplots that we used to as much anymore. I know I'll never escape YA. I keep reading too many good ones.

So im watching this in 2024, vaguely remembering it happening, and checking to make sure her book isn't on my tbr. She has since written a book literally titled "Kathleen Hale is a Crazy Stalker". I'm both cracking up laughing and astounded slash dumbfounded; thought you might enjoy this tidbit too ❤

This was the first fantasy book I ever read and it got me hooked.

First of all you're awesome I love your videos always will I love seeing what's new there question for you if you've never read Robin Hobb what would you suggest you start with? I'm a little out of my depth I usually read a lot of science fiction and thrillers and mysteries What would you suggest if you're trying to look on and get back into a little bit of fantasy I've been in the more realistic world lately like so I have kind of no idea right now but what book do you think you should start with if I could ask

I am currently listening to Ship of Destiny. I liked the first book but didn't love it. The second book was way more up my alley, I am intrigued to see how it ends. :) Kyle was so annoying, I hated him so much. Malta has a fascinating arc so far, really like it.

Liveship Traders is a tremendous trilogy. The Mad Ship was my favorite, looking forward to the review! Nobody does characters better than Robin Hobb.

One of my fave things about reading an overarching series is due to the length of time they take, you can see the writer improving book by book. Like Brandon Sanderson!

This is my 3rd fave series of all time, I absolutely love it, and the Rain Wild books that come after. I just find her character arcs so amazing, some characters I found so boring and annoying at the start I loved by the end, and others I slowly grew to hate. I love how she plays with the idea of Kennit doing good deeds but for evil purposes, I find it so fascinating. Glad you loved it, I knew you would!

brown does so great with his female characters, i think the first book is such a narrow perspective from darrow that it is intentionally like that in the first novel

Absolutely one of the best fantasy series. Hobb is such a brilliant writer, and the next two books are just as good if not better than the first.

I want to read this, but the size does scare me. I own The Priory of the Orange Tree as well and haven't read it for the same reason. Both books sounds amazing. Glad you enjoyed it.

The book by Valerie Valdes sounds good. I'll take a closer lok at it. I pre-ordered The Familiar, but after reading an exceprt I cancelled my order because I didn't feel drawn to it like I should. The purchase would have been because of the hype and that isn't a good reason to buy it for me.

Hey I hope this isn't too much but I remember back in some of the other videos other clips that I've seen you do you mentioned you were therapist and I just wanted to say that I am an addict and I do consider myself an alcoholic and it's just there's something about your videos then makes me look forward to the week look forward to new things and it's keeping me on a good track I don't know if that makes sense I know it's ultimately our responsibility to stay on the right track and to be accountable but you make me feel like I have hope everyday I guess does that make sense I hope this isn't too much respectfully from a stranger name Ben

So I can't remember the name of it but it's the one you just presented and you said it was really dark but it's not fantasy vibes but it was still cringy I'm here for it different kind of cringy but I just recently read a documentary on Ted Bundy and I couldn't sleep for like 4 weeks

My series reading isn't going so good apart from one contemporary romance series, The Wilds in Montana by Kristen Proby. They really quick and easy to read because of the writing and that they are contemporary books. Fantasy series? I haven't been good at finishing those in the last few years. I started the The Forbidden Heir Trilogy by Emilia Jae this year-amazing first book. I have the second and third comes out in September. I think that is one of the series I will most likely finish this year. It's good that they are coming out so soon after one another and that I'm getting back into reading regularly. Happy reading.

I might need to focus on the ongoing series I need to close out as it's around 70. so your number is much more manageable.

I'm listening to The First Sister trilogy right now and just finished the second book too. Loving it so much, and there are even more perspectives in The Last Hero, which I think is adding well to everything! 😁

I have been trying to wait until series are completed before starting any new ones bc I also prefer to just binge the entire series once it's out. I love using hoopla for the audio for some since there is no wait time and you can borrow like 15 titles a month (at least at my library). But I have seen so much hype for Stormlight archive

I gave my husband the first three books in The Expanse series for Christmas. He wasn’t in love with the first one. I’m considering reading it but I have read there’s some amount of misogyny. (He’s a guy he can’t really comment 😂) You must not think it’s “bad” or you wouldn’t have read as many of the books as you have?

The Winner's Curse series was sooo good, but I also just couldn't get into the Forgotten Gods series. P.S. Those earrings are divine!

Some of my most anticipated releases of the second half of the year are A Sorceress Comes to Call by T. Kingfisher (dark goose girl retelling), The City in Glass by Nhgi Vo (new standalone), and Long Live Evil by Sarah Rees Brennan (I gather this needs a content warning for cancer; the author is a cancer survivor, so it's written from personal experience, but I don't know if it's something you'd want to read or avoid).

I think my expectations were either too high or id bought into the way it was being marketed too much? Probably both. I heard Leigh describe it as her most romantic/emotional/personal work so far. Maybe i just didn't connect with the story. It wasnt bad by any means just abit underwhelming. I felt like it either needed to be alot shorter (like something from Language of Thorns) or twice as long. Also, can we please stop having these poorly made hardbacks as standard/only physical option for new releases? My book might have sprayed edges or a foiled dustjacket but the spine is about as sturdy as a wet paper straw

I just finished my second reread of Windwitch and I think it’s definitely still holds up. I can’t believe how long it has been since it came out though we’ve all changed so much during it. I’m in my 30s now, wow! Still excited for the finale of the series though😅😊

In The House In The Dark Of The Woods by Laird Hunt; I've been describing it as Over The Garden Wall/ The Witch but written by Kafka. Its unsettling and strange, like a fever dream. Theres a quiet terror to it thats hard to explain. Its only 200 pages, but scenes from it have randomly been popping into my head since i read it. I cant wait to reread when autumn comes ❤

I just wanted to comment that I came back to this video specifically after having watched it when it came out, just to feel validated and to not go crazy with all the feelings I have about the series after now rereading it to refresh my memory before which light comes out next year. I just want Susan Denner to get all the hype and satisfaction from finishing the story because she really struggled with her personal life and her sales of Whichshadow. The book industry is a weird place where sales are depending on so many factors. I cannot fathom why the series has not gotten the recognition. It deserves up until now which had its flaws but the development and the heart of the story is amazing and I hope more people recognise that, so thank you for this video. It’s stuck with me over the years, your passion is palpable and I feel very validated by It. 😅🎉❤

My favourite books this year so far were The Dagger and the Forbidden Heir by Emilia Jae (indie author)-which looks like it will have wyverns in the rest of the series and The Crimson Moth by Kristen Ciccarelli-such a great witch vs witch hunter (enemies to lovers and then gets even more complicated). I would recommend them to anyone who enjoys fantasy with romance, but with a bigger plot and just about romance. Happy reading!
